THE SELECTLOK STORY...

Founded in 1978 as part of the family-owned SELECTRIX group, SELECTLOK has a long history of designing and developing hinges, latches and locking systems in Melbourne, specifically for the harsh and varied conditions of the Australian environment.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, SELECTRIX continued to push the boundaries of manufacturing and product design. In 1993, the company was awarded the Most Innovative Product Award for its Swing Handle design, followed in 1997 by its first of many worldwide patents in product design.

In the 2000s, SELECTRIX established two specialist brands under its umbrella to focus on the distinct industries it serviced:

• SELECTRAIL — focused on developing unique products for railway infrastructure and signalling technology.
• SELECTLOK — specialising in innovative, heavy-duty hardware and locking systems, including latches, hinges and sealing solutions for a wide range of applications.

In September 2026, SELECTLOK became part of McNaughtans Pty Ltd, joining a group of established Australian businesses including Piranha Off-Road Products, Struts Australia, Concept Lock Latch & Hinge, BIGRIG and Suspension Supplies Australia.

Established in South Africa more than 75 years ago, McNaughtans has built a strong reputation across the bus, truck and trailer industries, with an Australian-owned branch operating since 2003. The acquisition brings together complementary product expertise, industry knowledge and established market relationships, creating new opportunities for SELECTLOK and its customers.

Today, SELECTLOK continues to develop premium hardware and locking solutions designed by Australians for Australian conditions. We work closely with our customers to understand their requirements and deliver practical, reliable solutions that support their products and long-term goals.

SELECTLOK products are used across a broad range of industries and applications, including electrical switchboards, IT and telecommunications cabinets, trucks, service vehicles, buses, trailers, caravans, RVs, camper trailers and specialist equipment — wherever dependable hardware, locking, hinging or sealing solutions are required.
